Web sites that may be quite useful during the semester include:

http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu - National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA)

For help with UNIX,  do the following:

http://www.mcsr.olemiss.edu/unixhelp

You will also find additional useful information at this location!  We will be using the IBM p690 at NCSA.

COMPUTER ACCESS (with secure-shell):

Access from home via a PC:
If you wish to connect from home to various computer systems this semester, you will need a secure means of connecting.  Special software is available which you can download for free.  We will be using the ssh2 protocol.

http://www.ssh.com - A 30-day trial version is available via the "Download" button on this website.

Ben has found another location for a longer-term version:  http://www.colorado.edu/its/docs/authenticate/win_ssh.html

Access from your lab/office via a PC:
From the "Start" menu, under "CAS Software", go to "Communications", select "Tera Term 2.3". SSH has already been added to this software package. When the window comes up, make sure "SSH" is selected IF a secure connection is required by the host machine.   OR you can use "Putty SSH Client".
