Directions:
The Falun copper mine can be visited today; one can see the museum or can take an elevator deep into the huge historic mine (reached by driving southwest on Gruvgatan). The entrance is at (N60 36.01 E15 36.95). The museum includes a display not only on the history and practices of the mine, but also of the work of Gahn, who discovered manganese. The laboratories of Gahn's and of Sefström have been demolished and replaced by more modern buildings. Gahn's site: corner of Bergsskolegränd and Trotzgatan (N60 36.35 E15 38.11), present site of a bank and directly across from the cozy Winn's Hotel. Sefström's site: Åsgatan 1 (N60 36.31 E15 38.10), now a shopping center.
