Paracelsus always cared for the common man, and he became involved in the "Peasants' Revolt" (1524-1525), which was the most significant rebellion in Europe before the French Revolution two and a half centuries later. The revolt was crushed by the authorities, and social order was restored. Paracelsus barely escaped the hangman's noose and fled westward. He was to return to Salzburg fifteen years later. |
