The reasons for the move of Paracelsus' family in 1502 from Switzerland probably stem from the aftermath of the Swabian Wars in 1499. The Swabian Wars, sometimes called the Swiss War, was a dispute between the House of Hapsburg and the Old Swiss Confederacy. Paracelsus' father was originally from Swabia, near Stuttgart.
