Some of the letters are missing, but the inscription can be read:
"V rudách z tohoto místa v r. 1898 marie curie sklodowská a pierre curie objevili prvek rádium aby sloužil životu: díky horníkum a vede rádiové prameny a lécba prozarováním prinášejí zdraví statisícum."
Translation: "In ores from this location in the year 1898, Marie Curie Sklodowska and Pierre Curie discovered the element radium so it could serve mankind: thanks to mining and science, radium rays and medicine have brought health to hundreds of thousands of people."Also taken from this location was the uranium ore used by Germany in their nuclear program. Several tons of ore were shipped to Wilhelm Institute in Berlin where Otto Hahn and others discovered nuclear fission in 1938 and earlier, in 1917, the element protactinium {LINK to Berlin Otto Hahn Building}.
