The inscription beside the door is "I ET HUS PÅ DETTE STED OPDAGEDE FYSIKEREN HANS CHRISTIAN ØRSTED ELEKTROMAGNETISMEN I ÅRET 1820." The translation is: "In a house on this spot, the physicist Hans Christian Ørsted discovered electromagnetism in the year 1820." The present building was erected in 1909. Photograph, courtesy TDC.
