Previous | Home | NextThe unpleasant events of 14 July 1791 began with a celebratory dinner at the Royal Hotel (sometimes known as the Thomas Dudley Hotel after its proprietor) celebrating the second anniversary of Bastille Day, celebrating the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789. On this 1795 map of Birmingham, the "Hotel" is the Royal Hotel, on Temple Row, some 130 meters east of St. Philip's Cathedral. See next photo for identifications.
