Daventry, England/daventry300

Directly across from the Priestley Court is the Wheatsheaf Court, which today is a "care home" (retirement home). In Priestley's day it was the Wheatsheaf Inn, where the students would hold "celebrations" and "feasts." Daventry was at the intersection of major roads between Oxford, Coventry, Leicester, and London, and became a coaching stop, creating the needs for several inns. Note the plaque just above the hood ("bonnet" in England) of the nearer automobile.
