Manaccan, England/manaccan444Previous | Home | NextThis is Bruce Carter, grounds keeper for Tregonwell Mill, standing beside one of the older buildings. Bruce believed that the cleared hillsides in earlier days was possible because the plowing was done by horse, while today is done by tractor which cannot handle the slopes without tipping over. Bruce also thought that Gregor's mineral grains were probably more easily collected in the wooden "launder" (the wooden trough feeding the overshot) rather than the earthen leat whose silt might have hidden the dark sand. |
