This is the northward view of the Old Warrington Academy Building across the Mersey River. This bridge, existing since 1495, afforded a convenient route between Chester and London, and with the barge transport on the navigable river, continued commerce was assured at Warrington. Twice a week, a coach could take one to London in the amazingly rapid time of three days and two nights!
