William Cruickshank of Woolwich was a chemist at Woolwich and Surgeon of Artillery who performed an incredible amount of important research in medicine, electricity, and chemistry. (William Cumberland Cruickshank of London was an anatomist in London who was present during Samuel Johnson's last illness.)
