Walking along the dock northward. The white building straight-ahead (the vanishing point of the brick pathway) is the Helsinki Cathedral, built in the honor of Nicholas I, the Tsar of Russia, in 1830-1852. Until the independence of Finland in 1917, it was called St. Nicholas' Church. The red and yellow building to the left is Vanha Kauppahalli (Old Market Hall). To the right along the waterfront (hidden behind the boats and parked cars) is the Market Square.
