Previous | Home | NextThe Uspenski Cathedral is the largest orthodox church in Western Europe, built in 1862-68. It was patterned after an old church near Moscow built in the 16th century. The bricks were brought from Bomarsund fortress in Åland Islands between Sweden and Finland in the Baltic Sea, which was destroyed by a British-French fleet in the the Crimean War in 1854.
