"The Marquis de La Vrillière is a palace constructed by Francois Mansart, 1634-1640, and was the site of fortification moats of Charles V. In 1713 the mansion passed hands to Alexandre de Bourbon, count of Toulouse, son of Louis XIV and Madame Montespan. During 1713-1719, Robert de Cotte remodeled and renamed it the Hotel de Toulouse. After the death of the Duke of Penthievre, in 1793, the hotel was confiscated by the 'Bulletin de Lois,' then by the National Printing Office."
Charles V (1338-1380) was king of France 1364-1380.
The "Bulletin de Lois" was a commission created during the Revolution and charged with issuing laws, ordinances and regulations of the government.
