This is the view eastward on Rue Lavoisier. At the end of the street, 100 meters away, is Rue d'Anjou (north-south; left-right). There was once a cross street (north-south; left-right) about half way down Rue Lavoisier called Rue Rumford. Both Rue Lavoisier and Rue Rumford were built in 1838 and officially opened two years later. In 1841 Madame Lavoisier's mansion was demolished. Rue Rumford was itself removed when the Boulevards Malesherbes and Haussmann (north of this region) were open. These streets were part of the "Haussmann's Renovations" commissioned by Napoleon III and carried out 1852-1870, large-scale projects that created widened streets, improved sanitation, and general modernization..
