This view is looking north on Rue Geoffrey Sainte-Hillaire, from a vantage point further south, showing that there are no longer any older buildings north of the main house we just visited; instead, there stands the modern complex of the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle. These missing older historic buildings include the laboratory of Rouelle where he gave his demonstrations (see Turgot views above). Rouelle was the official chemistry demonstrator at the Jardin du Roi (1742-1768). Lavoisier became acquainted with Rouelle during the early 1760s and was greatly influenced by the empirical approach taken by Rouelle. From Rouelle's lectures Lavoisier collected notes which he prized.
