The City Hall in Pierrefitte-Nestalas, where the tourist bureau may be found. Pierrefitte-Nestalas is on the main route from Lourdes to Garvarnie. Lourdes (15 km north) is famous for its 14-year-old peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous who had visions of the Virgin Mary in 1858, leading to its shrines and pilgrimages by those who wish to share in the healing powers of the local spring waters. Gavarnie (30 km south) is a popular tourist site situated in the Parc National des Pyrénées.
