It was at the Niederwallstraße address that Wöhler conducted his important earlier research including the preparation of aluminum and metallic beryllium, the corroboration of vanadium in vanadinite; and the isomerism of ammonium cyanate (an inorganic compound) into urea (an organic compound). Wöhler also announced that he had prepared metallic yttrium, but this claim was disputed by Heinrich Rose, who thought Wöhler had mistaken impure beryllium for yttrium (both were obtained from gadolinite, a beryllium yttrium iron silicate).
