Previous | Home | NextAnother picture in the exhibit -- one of the hints that led to Döbereiner's Triades was the observation that celestine (strontium sulfate) had a weight which was the average of gypsum (calcium sulfate) and barite (barium sulfate). The celestine was obtained from Dornburg, 10 km north. (Coelestin is the German spelling). [There are many other pictures in the exhibit, but are not reproduced here because either they appear elsewhere in this discussion of Jena or are scenes which were photographed by the authors themselves, such as the sites in Münchberg and Bug am Weißdorf.]
