Previous | Home | NextWölsendorf is a source of "Stinkspat," a form of fluorspar (fluorite, calcium fluoride) which has inclusions of elemental fluorine (F2), which was created by the action of constituent uranium deposits. Stinkspat, when broken up by the historic miners, would emit a sickening odor. Pieces of Stinkspat, when crushed on potassium iodide-starch paper, will create a blue spot, demonstrating the presence of a strong oxidizer.
