(This is an exact copy of the original, sculpted 1501-1505, which was at this location in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, N43 46.16 E11 15.35, before being taken inside the Gallery of the Accademia di Belle Arti). This beautiful rendition of human form, made possible by detailed understanding of the human body, is of the highest form of art because it was believed to express divine creation. In such a way were the schools of art and medicine joined together.
