The Magyars (Hungarians) conquered Cluj-Napoca in the 10th century, and the city became part of the Kingdom of Hungary. Since that time, Cluj-Napoca has experienced a complex history involving the Turks, the Hungarians (who called the city Kolozsvár), Saxons (who called the city Klausenburg), and Romanians (who fixed the name as Cluj-Napoca). Napoca was the ancient Roman name.
