From the iron, copper, then silver and gold, and finally platinum, the Demidov family was the wealthiest family after the Tzars in the 18th-19th centuries. This is the present Demidov industry (N57 54.20 E59 56.78), viewed from Fox Hill (Lishu Gora, N57 54.03 E59 56.93). This is 2 km east of the Vysorkora Hill iron mine complex. During WWII Stalin moved the major tank producing facilities in western Russia which were under attack by Germany far to the east, to Nizhniy Tagil; the present Uralvagonzavod (Urals Vehicle Factory) and Museum, is located at Vostochnoye Schosse 28 - N57 55.71 E60 05.93.
