In 1684 new premises at Norrmalmstorg were given to the laboratory (Laboratorium Chymicum) at Norrmalmstorg, for the Royal Board of Mining and Metallurgy by the Bergskollegium. (The Bergskollegium had been established by King Gustavus Adolphus II in 1630). This laboratory was run by Urban Hjärne, who moved from his premises on Hoparegränd. In 1692 Urban Hjärne and the laboratory moved to Gripenhielmska huset on Kungsholmen. No trace remains today of the laboratory on Norrmalstorg.
