In addition to the Paracelsus Museum south of Bad Ragaz, another local site of historical significance is Maienfeld, directly across the Rhine River from Bad Ragaz, only 2 km to the east. Maienfeld is famous for the setting of Johanna Spyri's novel Heidi, in which the baths of Bad Ragaz are mentioned.
