The painting is dated 1576. This is half a century after the visit of Paracelsus, but gives us more of an idea of the appearance of the area during his sojourn in the Inn of the Stork. The view is eastward (opposite direction from the 1770 painting), and thus the Kirche St. Peter is in the foreground. Knowing that the appearance of a church usually changes significantly over the years, the resemblance of the Kirche St. Peter steeple with today's structure is striking. The bridge to the right no longer exists; the bridge to the left (Rathausbrücke) still exists, and is no longer wooden but stone.
