Al Ghiorso tells an engrossing story of the discovery of elements at Berkeley. The following elements were created by an influx of neutrons created in the 60-inch cyclotron at Crocker Hall: 93 (neptunium), 94 (plutonium), 95 (americium), 96 (curium), 97 (berkelium), 98 (californium), 99 (einsteinium), 100 (fermium), and 101 (mendelevium). This cyclotron is now at the University of California at Davis.
