Sabará may be reached by a winding road 24 km from the center of Belo Horizonte. This road takes one through the Serra do Curral (Corral Range), a stretch of low mountains. The Museu do Ouro is located at Rua da Intendência 264 (S19 53.34 W43 48.42), only 50 m from the General Hospital (Santa Casa de Sabará). and 200 northwest of BR 262 (Av. Perimetral) (BR is the designation of a National Highway in Brazil).
