London, England/london7-240Previous | Home | NextThis is Brook Green, a quiet suburb in the Hammersmith District west of London. This main park lends an atmosphere of former times, when the father of William Crookes, Joseph Crookes (1792-1884) moved to Brook Farm in 1846 from London, when the son William was 14 years old. Joseph had acquired wealth as a tailor and built a farm in Brook Green and became active in community affairs. The farm was called "Masborough House." This photo was taken at the southeast extreme of the park. The view is northwest, along the Brook Green Park. |
