Lavoisier was a member of the committee to create the metric system in 1791, a decimal system which included the meter, gram, and litre. The original system also utilized a decimal calendar and time, which was introduced in 1793. There were 10 "hours" in a day, with each divided into 100 "minutes" and each minute divided into 100 "seconds." (See next photo).
