Previous | Home | NextThe Himmelfürst mine area is about 7 km southwest of Freiberg (maps 1,5). Himmelfürst means "Heavenly Prince." It is today surprisingly absent of any vestiges of a once vigorous silver mining industry. Over several centuries of silver have been drawn up from these shafts, as well as the minerals that yielded the discovery of both germanium and indium.
