The obverse of the tellurium coin. The Hungarian inscription reads "Mag. Kir. Femkoho Selmeczbanyan" ("Hungarian Royal Smelter at Selmeczbanyaya"). The cross hammers, so common a tradition in Eastern European mining, actually originated in the thirteenth century in Kremnitz {LINK: to Kremnitz, Slovakia}, 30 km north of Banksá Štiavnica, present-day Slovakia.
