This is a section of a 1:50,000 topographical map of the area. Assumption Hill is marked with an arrow. "KAM" is an abbreviation for Cyrillic "KAMENOLOMNYA" meaning quarry, marked with the stitched semicircle; "WAX" is an abbreviation for Cyrillic "SHAXTA" meaning "mine," marked by the crossed hammers. Crocoite was found both in quarries (surface mining) and mines (subsurface). Just north of the identified region is a depressed area filled in with a dotted pattern with the Cyrillic abbeviation for "PESOK" meaning "sand;" this has extensive sand dunes and was used for working placer mines.
