After leaving Strontian, a drive north takes one to Ben Nevis, the highest point in Scotland, 1344 meters (4409 feet) high. It is 35 km northeast of Strontian and 5 km east of Fort William. Ben Nevis is composed of various igneous rocks, located along the Great Glen Fault.
