Merging enamine catalysis with hard metal Lewis acid catalysis offers great potential for new carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions. The major barrier hindering the growth of this area lies in the acid-base quenching reaction leading to catalyst inactivation. We are interested in developing new strategies and new catalytic systems to solve the acid-base quenching problem. Using these strategies and catalytic systems, we aim to develop asymmetric organic transformations that cannot be achieved by organocatalysis and metal catalysis independently.
