Sabará is a quaint village full of history. At one time in the 1700s Sabará was the major producer of gold in Brazil -- at one time Sabará was advertised as generated more gold in a week than the rest of Brazil in a year! This view is northward, showing the mountains that surround the town. The church is Igreja de São Francisco de Assis (S19 53.48 W43 48.74), on the northern side of Sabará (no. 7 on map of city, which follows).
